For independent suspension vehicles, there are two tie rods for adjusting the toe. When adjusting the toe, the tie rods on both sides must be adjusted at the same time. Due to the influence of various factors such as use conditions, adjustment methods and maintenance and assembly quality, the adjustment of the left and right steering wheels cannot be completely symmetrical. Generally, there are the following situations:
(1) The left and right steering wheels are symmetrical about the longitudinal axis of the car
In this case, when the steering wheel rolls forward, the actual amount of side slip of the two wheels to the ground is independently suspended.
(2) The swing angle of the left and right front wheels is asymmetrical
When the swing angles of the left and right front wheels are asymmetrical, when the independent suspension steering wheels roll forward, the amount of side slip of the two wheels is different. The structure of the double-plate side slip meter determines that the skateboard must move inward or outward at the same time. For the same distance, the amount of sideslip indicated by the instrument is not the actual amount of sideslip of the steering wheel, but the comprehensive result of the amount of sideslip of the left and right steering wheels. As a result, the meter indicates that the amount of side slip is qualified, and the independent suspension steering wheel is abnormally worn.
(3) Left and right steering wheels deviate to one side
When the left and right steering wheels deviate to one side, the amount of side slip of the two independent suspension steering wheels is different during the rolling process. The indicated value of the instrument is neither the amount of sideslip of the left steering wheel nor the amount of sideslip of the right steering wheel, but the integrated sideslip value of the two steering wheels. There will also be a small amount of side slip, but the steering wheel is abnormally worn. The lateral forces of the faces are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction.
